My name is Jodie Marley, and I am a qualified proofreader based in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. I carried out my training with two highly respected organisations, the Publishing Training Centre (PTC) and the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP). I have experience of working with both publishers and businesses, proofreading a variety of material including non-fiction, fiction, and marketing materials such as brochures and technical detailers.
My background is in veterinary medicine. I qualified from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in 1998, and worked as a small animal veterinary surgeon in practices in Derby and Oxford, before taking a break to start a family and relocate to Wales. After having my children I returned to work as a part-time locum, before deciding to change career so that I could work from home.
Due to my background, I am comfortable proofreading veterinary and biomedical material. My other interests (apart from reading a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction) include gardening, keeping chickens, history, cookery, and nature. However, I am happy to work on many different topics, so please contact me to discuss your subject area. My aim is to provide you with the best possible service, so I will let you know if I don’t feel I have sufficient knowledge of your subject to give you the standard of service I would like.
